The message comes from someone in another country, claiming to need help removing money from one country to another. The reader is encouraged to bribe an official with a small fee, and then the reader can keep a percentage of the proceeds. Sometimes readers are promised thousands for a small fee in the hundreds. "Many people fall for this scam, paying hundreds for a payoff they'll never see," Christopher Dahm says. "This sort of fraud makes me incredibly angry, as the scammers are stealing money and getting away with it."

"Most of the time, just deleting the email messages without opening them will do the trick, but sometimes other steps are required," Christopher Dahm says. Some readers had no idea that there were so many scams in circulation right now, and they're happy to learn more about how to protect themselves.
Christopher Dahm feels this anti-scam work is incredibly important and useful. "Each time someone reads the blog and refuses to fall for a scam, those scammers lose just a little bit of money. This makes all of my work worthwhile. I want to stop these guys from making even one cent off unsuspecting people."
